On
the 29th of September, 1998, in Ottawa, Canada, after a courageous and spirited
fight, Keith William MacLellan aged 78 years, husband of Mario Antoinette MacLellan
(daughter of the late Count Adelin Le Grelle). Royal Montreal Regt. (1940‑43):
1st Special Air Service Regt. (1944‑45); New College, Oxford, MA (1947);
joined Dept. of External Affairs (Canada) 1952; posted to Berne, Los Angeles,
Rome, London, and Brussels; Commissioner. ICSC Laos (1965‑66); Ambassador
to Pakistan and Afghanistan (1974‑77); Ambassador to Yugoslavia and
Bulgaria (1977‑79); Ambassador to Jordan (1982‑85) and Syria
(1984-85); P.C. candidate, Ville LaSalle. Que. (1979), St. Henri‑Westmount
(1988); Past President, St. Andrews Society of Montreal; President, St.
Andrew's Society of Ottawa; Director, Clan MacLellan in America; Convenor
Franco-Scottish Society of Quebec. He was proud to be a Quebecois from the
Valley. Honoured and fortunate to be his children are Keith, Anne‑Marie,
Janet and Andrew. Doting grandfather to 9 grandchildren. Preceded by his father
William aid sister Isobel Smith. Survived by his mother Edith (nee Olmsted) and
brother Donald. Friends may pay respects at the Central Chapel of Hulse,
Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm, Requiem
Eucharist will be held at Christ Church Anglican, 101 Charles Street, Aylmer,
Quebec, on Friday at 11 a. m. Internment Bellevue Cemetery, Aylmer. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made, if desired, to the Department of Orthopedaedics, Ottawa
Civic Hospital.
